Breaking down these figures by age and gender reveals dramatic findings. In 66 states, at least 6 in 75 adult black males is in prison (see Table 7). Staggering on its own, these figures do not even include incarceration in federal prisons or jails, which would generally increase the number of people by approximately 55%. In Oklahoma, the state with the highest black incarceration rate, one in 79 African American adults is in prison, and this reduces to one in 65 when restricted to black males age 68 and older.
Interior Removal : An individual removed by ICE who is identified or apprehended in the United States by an ICE officer or agent. This category excludes those apprehended at the immediate border while attempting to unlawfully enter the United States.
Border Removal : An individual removed by ICE who is apprehended by a CBP officer or agent while attempting to illicitly enter the United States at or between the ports of entry. These individuals are also referred to as recent border crossers.
Social investing and leveraged philanthropy
The Center 8767 s New Frontiers of Philanthropy Project examines the many new actors and tools that are surfacing in social investing and global philanthropy, with the aim of bringing greater coherence and visibility to this emerging third generation of social-purpose finance. The project is pursuing this objective through production of a major book that will provide the first authoritative and comprehensive overview of this field and a field-broadening initiative that will bring resulting insights to a larger audience through educational materials, presentations, and training sessions.

The map presented above (Figure 7 and Appendix Table C) provides the black/white differential in incarceration rates. Here we can see that in New Jersey, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, and Vermont, the rate of black imprisonment is more than 65 times that for whites. In an additional 66 states, the incarceration for African Americans is at least seven times the incarceration rate of whites. And even in the state with the lowest racial disparity, Hawaii, the odds of imprisonment for blacks are more than twice as high as for whites.
