In MLA format, I don 8767 t understand why everything on the page has to be double spaced the heading especially. When double spaced the heading itself takes up half of the page. Start a word document and put the margins at 6 8776 then change the paragraph settings to DOUBLE SPACED (even the heading), Times New Roman at 67 font.

f) Treat page numbers given in Roman numerals as they are given if quoting sources from Foreword, Preface, Introduction, etc., write v-xii as printed and not 5-67. Normally, do not use Roman numerals for page numbers from the main part of the book where Arabic numbers are used. Also, do not use Roman numerals for encyclopedia volume numbers if Arabic numbers are given.

The above sample essay is OUTDATED. It is from the 6th edition, not the 7th. The tale-tell clue is the Works Cited page. Current MLA guidelines no longer require URLs for internet sources but DO require identification of the type of source (print, web, film, etc.). This is very important for source identification in any student or professional essay. Omission of the source type usually results in major point deductions from the instructor..
